AdvanceD Technology
Phoenix Oral & Facial Surgery

At Phoenix Oral and Facial Surgery, our doctors employ advanced technology to diagnose and treat our patients.  In addition to our state-of-the-art imaging systems, we also use virtual planning software in combination with specialized training to achieve superb surgical results.  Whether we are capturing three dimensional digital impressions or performing precision guided placement of dental implants, you can feel confident that you are receiving excellent care backed by cutting-edge science.

Learn more about our 3D Imaging System

Digital Imaging with advanced cone beam technology provides amazingly detailed images of much higher quality than found with traditional x-rays. This newer technology is also highly efficient and emits less radiation than traditional x-ray machines.  In less than 15 seconds, a complete scan of your face and skeleton can be obtained and reviewed with you immediately, resulting in a reduced number of visits to the office and saving you time.

Precision guided placement of dental implants

Using a virtual model or a physical model for reference, implant placement and restorations can be simulated to create and visualize the ideal patient treatment plan. Virtual planning allows Dr. Kim to take all aspects of implant placement and surgical planning into consideration, resulting in optimal aesthetics, function and predictability for the patient’s final outcome.  In many cases, this planning can be performed in real time at the patient's chair side with the use of our advanced imaging cone beam scanner.

Once planning has been completed, specialized software can be used to fabricate a guide for use during surgical placement. This guide directs the exact location, angle and depth of the implant to be placed with astonishing accuracy. The use of the guide increases the efficiency, safety and predictability of the procedure.

Virtual Surgery Planning

Virtual surgical planning provides an accurate and comprehensive method to simulate surgery in combination with a thorough clinical exam. The procedure planned can be visualized in real time to determine the best means of achieving all goals of treatment and any changes or modifications can be made in real time. The reconstruction is simulated in a virtual 3-D environment but this data can then be easily exported for 3-D printing. An actual size stereolithographic model can even be generated to check for real world dimensional accuracy and fitment. The benefit of this detailed pre-operative planning means less time in the operating room and faster recovery and healing.

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

Using Electronic Medical Records our practice is able to quickly and accurately access patient information in order to provide the utmost in patient care.  This helps to ensure patient confidentiality as well as reduce the need for paper.  Using a digital format allows for quick access to your information when needed for insurance records yet provides a secure filing system.

Digital Imaging

Digital imaging reduces the amount of radiation needed as compared to traditional film x-rays.  The ability to view and manipulate images instantaneously on a high-resolution screen also allows our patients to better understand and follow treatment. Digital imaging saves time and improves patient education and care.  It’s also very green technology.  By eliminating film and chemical waste, it is much better for you and the environment!

Digital Intraoral Cameras

An intra-oral camera combines the latest video technologies with dental care. Both the patient and doctor can see detailed images of the teeth and oral cavity in real time.  With an intraoral camera, you are able to better understand what is happening in your mouth and review the status of your oral health.
